(TEL), a world leader in connectivity, today announced the findings of its second annual Engineering Sentiment Survey, which examined American attitudes toward the engineering profession and its broader impact on innovation and society. The survey of 1,010 adults in the U.S. found there is a growing awareness of the role of engineers in driving innovation (79 percent versus 73 percent last year). Engineers continue to drive innovation, bringing advancements across industries that impact our daily lives,” said Rob Shaddock, executive vice president and chief technology officer at TE Connectivity. According to the U.S. Department of Education, only 16 percent of American high school seniors are proficient in mathematics and interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) careers.
