Will mysterious Mendez become a major player?

The main intrigue came from Antonio Mendez (acclaimed Brazilian actor Caio Blat), who introduced himself to Rebecca (Juliet Rylance) at a swanky embassy party, explaining that he was an old friend of Alex Godman (James Norton) from Harvard Business School. Except, well, he wasnt. 

We enjoyed Alex concealing his internal panic as he bluffed to his girlfriend that he knew exactly who this smooth stranger was. Mendez or whatever hes really called soon invited the couple to his villa in Cap dAntibes, which made for plenty of telegenic Mediterranean scenery, glamorous yachts and Norton in his Speedos.
